Why does ENO focus on high-end materials and finishes ?
When choosing a marine cooking appliance, the choice of material is essential. Corrosion resistance, weather resistance, maintenance... there are many criteria to consider.
For over 100 years, ENO has been designing stoves and equipment for boats, installed on sailboats and yachts around the world. The harsh conditions at sea have forged a requirement: to use only reliable, durable materials that are resistant to extreme corrosion.
What boating has taught ENO :
- Materials must be resistant to :
- salt
- moisture
- UV rays
- repeated impacts
- Surfaces must be easy to clean and last for years.
- Appearance must remain impeccable despite intensive use.
ENO applies the same rigorous standards to its range of planchas and outdoor kitchens as it does to its marine equipment. This explains its choice of a premium material capable of withstanding corrosion over time : marine-grade stainless steel.
Marine-grade stainless steel, the ultimate corrosion-resistant material

Thanks to its longstanding expertise in the nautical industry, ENO has developed a true mastery of demanding environments and selects high-end materials renowned for their reliability, such as marine-grade stainless steel, which you will find on all our ranges of cooking appliances (except our glass-ceramic cooktops).
Marine-grade stainless steel, “glossy” finish
Marine-grade stainless steel (304L) is used in the nautical industry worldwide.
The “glossy” finish provides natural resistance to salt corrosion, one of the most destructive environments for metals, unlike the brushed finish used by many manufacturers of stainless steel planchas, which does not pass the salt spray test.
All ENO stainless steel products are tested for 500 hours in salt spray to ensure the best corrosion resistance.
